frog 2

Spring stitching just got a little hoppier! I’m giving away a free frog embroidery pattern — a cheerful little frog perched on a leaf, ready to brighten your hoop and your day.

This design is simple, clean, and perfect for relaxing weekend stitching. Whether you’re new to embroidery or a seasoned stitcher, this pattern is a fun way to add a touch of nature to your collection.

Fun Frog Fact

Did you know frogs don’t drink water through their mouths? They absorb it through a special patch of skin on their bellies called the drinking patch!

Stitch Suggestions for the Frog Pattern

Frog Body

  • Backstitch for the outline — keeps the frog crisp and clean.
  • Split stitch for the belly curve or any rounded areas to soften the lines.
  • Satin stitch for the toes if you want a tiny pop of texture.

Leaf

  • Stem stitch for the main leaf outline — gives a natural, slightly rope‑like organic look.
  • Backstitch for the veins to keep them delicate.
  • Optional: Long & short stitch if you want a shaded look on the leaf edges.

Frog Eye

  • Satin stitch for the iris.
  • French knot for the white highlight.
  • Backstitch in 310 for the outline.

Extra Texture Options

  • Whip backstitch around the frog outline if you want a thicker, more decorative line.
  • Seed stitch sparingly on the leaf for a dewy, natural feel.
