Resolution 2018 Progress
As I mentioned on the front page of my blog https://nanabumblebee.com/as-2017-flows-into-2018/ I indicated that I wanted to learn how to use watercolors.
I tried to find some local painting classes that I could sign up for but as with most rural areas, that’s just not possible. There isn’t enough culture way out in the sticks, where I live.
Not having professional help left me feeling like a kid in a candy store, so many choices, and no idea of where to begin.
Began painting, I did. I started with what I needed. The first thing I needed was a logo for this website, so I painted it.
After that, I began painting whatever inspired me. Pretty photos mostly. None of my watercolor paintings have been great, but I feel as if I’m making progress. Since I’m the only one I have to please with my goals, I’m happy. I am also still practicing, so that makes me happy too. Especially since most people give up on their goals 3 weeks into the new year.
As for the other goals, keeping the Sabbath, working on building a business, and watching as little television as possible, I’m doing okay.
The Sabbath, If I had to give myself a letter grade I’d say I was getting a C. I struggle with staying home and resting on Saturday. I’m working on that though. It’s not a goal that I’m going to stop working on, I’ll get it right eventually.
Building a business. I’m taking as many online classes and webinars as I can. I’m not seeing a lot of progress though. I will continue to work at this.
Watching TV. This is a pretty easy goal. I do like to watch the new show Young Sheldon and the Big Bang Theory, but I won’t go out of my way to watch it. I also watched American Idol from March 11th – April 2nd because one of my daughter’s childhood friends was on it and I want to see how she did. She didn’t make it through the second round of Hollywood week so I shut the tv off.
I feel like not watching TV has been the single most productive goal I have ever set.
Below are some of the paintings I have done so far. If you have constructive criticism please feel free to share it. I’m always willing to learn and improve on my new hobby.
The two below are from a calendar that I bought to learn to watercolor. I found the calendar not that helpful, but I did like these two paintings.
The rest of the photos below are from images that I saw or ideas in my head that needed to come out.
Obviously, I am nowhere near where I want to be in terms of painting. I am having fun being creative and learning how to play with watercolor though. I have tubes of watercolor, pencils, and a pallet of colors, and I think I like the pencils the best.
Thanks for spending your time with me today.
