November Thrift Store Finds

Don’t you just love all the treasures you can find at thrift stores?

This month I ran across a really adorable bowl that I fell in love with. To some, I’m sure the bowl looks unassuming, maybe even ugly, but there was something about the bowl that screamed, “Take me home!” So I did.
It wasn’t until I got home that I discovered that the bowl was actually a collectible. It’s made by Brush USA and sold for $25 on eBay. I don’t intend to sell my bowl as I really enjoy it but the colors inspired me to get rid of the white in my kitchen.
I’ve had the entry, “new set of dishes” on my bucket list for 3 years now and haven’t done anything about it because I never seem to fall in love with anything in the stores. I figured the right pattern would present itself at the right time and I’d take home a giant box of matching dishes, some day.
The Brush USA bowl was the inspiration I needed to buy a “new” set of dishes, at the thrift store.
I decided that the reason why I never seem to find the right pattern or color is because I don’t like matching things. I like all kinds of colors, shapes, and patterns. So why should my dishes be all the same?
The following week I went to the thrift store with a new passion, to find some “new” dishes in harvest gold or colors that complimented.
I ended up coming home with these items.

The set is nowhere near complete. I need at least 12 dinner plates, bowls, and small plates yet, but it’s a start.

While I was thrifting I ran into these pretty blue plates and wondered why can’t I also have some blue plates to use when I got bored of the yellow ones. So blue is also on my target list.

This Lennox bowl also jumped out at me. I loved the color and style of it as I generally tend to fill my home with nature items. So it came home too, and I am toying with the idea of also finding a green set of dishes to rotate with.
