How to resize patterns when you print
I’ve been promising to show you how to resize a PDF pattern to print at the size you desire so here it finally is. A step by step tutorial.
Download the PDF pattern that you’d like to use. I’m going to use the Doodle Flower pattern as an example. If you don’t have a PDF pattern to experiment with, download that free pattern and I’ll continue to walk you through it.

Open your PDF pattern. It will open up in your default browser. Mine opens up in explorer, so you’ll see these tutorial photos in explorer.

This is what the PDF pattern looks like once it’s been opened in Explorer. See the menu choices listed about the PDF? They say, “read aloud”, “add text”, etc.

See the red arrow I drew? That’s the print button. Go ahead and click on that button and wait for the next menu to open.

See the “more settings” option next to the red arrow? There’s a pull down menu there. Select the pull down menu.

The new menu that pops up will look like this or something similar. See the “Scale” option? Pull the side bar menu down a bit so you can see everything on that menu.

My scale is defaulted to 137, yours may be say a different number. Click on the circle and type in the number that you wish to print. Do you want your paper to print at 50%? Then type that in. You can also go larger, but keep in mind that if you go larger, you print may take more than one paper to print on and you will have to tape your pattern together to get a full print. That’s okay too!

I typed in 25, which will give me a print of 25% of the original pattern. Go a head and play around with the settings. Don’t be afraid to adjust all kinds of things in this area.
Now I’m going to show you how to print something from the file area of your computer by making it an actual photo size…
Print photo sizes

Open up “File Explorer.”

When you open up File Explorer it’ll look something similar to this. I have window 11, you may have a different version but it’ll still look similar to this. Open up the file where your photo is saved that you want to open.

This is the photo that I want to print. Select it.

A menu like this will pop up. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and click on “show more options.”

Another menu will open up and you’ll choose “print” from that drop down menu.

See the gray scroll slider on the side (red arrow). Pull that all the way down to view all your choices. You can select anything within that menu. There’s a little (2) next to the 4×6, and a small number next to each of the smaller sizes. That will tell you how many copies you can fit on one page. Change the value of copies on the left bottom corner if you want a full page of photos. Or leave the default of 1 selected if you only want one print.

Select the “contact sheet” if you’d like to print your photo in the 2×3 size. You can choose 35 prints per page.

That’s what just one copy looks like on the menu. If you put in 35 the entire sheet will show 35 copies on the page.
Go ahead and hit the print button now.
